Stef's determination to get her mobility back

I have been a lifelong Type 1 diabetic (Diagnosed at 18 months) and I am also a very determined person. That determination has carried me through 30 years of riding horses, becoming a certified riding instructor, earning an Honors Bachelor of Science and becoming a double Board Certified Doctor of Chiropractic. The diabetes never stopped me from doing anything. Then in 2005, a blister on a little toe turned into one gangrenous toe that turned into two that turned into one leg amputation which turned into two. Now, I live life in a wheelchair. My determination has helped me slowly learn to walk with two prosthetic legs. Out of all the physical things that I have accomplished, this has been, by far, the hardest. It takes far more energy than I currently have as I am also battling kidney failure. 

With the use of the TRACKZion, I will, for the first time in many years, have a degree of freedom that I long for. I will be able to do things that most people take for granted. I will be able to shop on my own, go to appointments on my own, discover new places and things but the most exciting prospect of going out and rekindling my connection with the horses and with nature. I have spent my life helping and teaching other people, now I need your help to realize that dream.

Atteinte du diabète depuis l'âge de 18 mois, on dit de moi que je suis une personne déterminée, persévérante et courageuse. Ces atouts m'ont permis de passer plus de 30 ans à monter à cheval, devenir instructrice certifiée en équitation, mériter une distinction honorifique dans le cadre de mon baccalauréat en sciences et à obtenir mon doctorat en chiropractie. J'ai refusé de me laisser ralentir par mon diabète.

En 2005, une plaie sur mon petit orteil s'est transformé en gangrène, puis a atteint deux orteils suivi d'une jambe, puis la deuxième. Ma vie est maintenant limitée par mon fauteuil roulant. Ma détermination m'a donnée la force d'apprendre à marcher avec deux prothèses et c'est de loin, le défi le plus exigeant de ma vie. Ça prend toute mon énergie compte tenu du fait que je souffre également d'insuffisance rénale.

Grâce au TRACKZion, je pourrais faire ce que la plupart des gens prennent pour acquis: faire mes courses par moi-même, aller à mes rendez-vous, découvrir de nouveaux endroits, mais le plus important, je pourrai reconnecter avec les chevaux et la nature. J'ai passé ma vie à aider les autres, j'ai maintenant besoin de votre aide pour réaliser ce rêve et reprendre ce que le diabète m'a enlevé. Aidez-moi à regagner ma mobilité et je vous en serez éternellement reconnaissante.
